Metrick’s Harvest View Farm is a family owned and operated farm, farm market, greenhouse and orchard. In April of 1991, Ken and Cathy were married right here in Mt. Chestnut and started Harvest View Farm. They work side by side along with their daughter’s, Amy and Laura, and have continued to grow and expand the farm.
In 1996 a farm market was built.
In 1999 and 2005 greenhouses were added to the operation.
In 2003 an addition was added to house the cider press as well as a packing room.
We use IPM (integrated pest management) a method of managing pests(insects, diseases or weeds)using a combination of biological, chemical and cultural methods. We have also found that by building healthy soils and maintaining a healthy soil structure we can reduce chemicals and commercial fertilizers by up to 60%. This is achieved by using a mix of conventional tillage, minimum tillage and No-till as well as using cover crops and plowing under “green manure” such as rye, red clover, hairy vetch etc. as well as using hi-calcium limestone to build soil health. We also scout our fields on a regular basis to observe insect and disease pressure. By following these practices, we are able to offer you fresh, safe, nutritious food for you and your family!
Our farm market is open year round! We’re open mid-April-Christmas Monday – Friday 9-6 and Saturday 9-5. We expand our weekends in October to include Saturday 9-6. and Sunday Noon-5. Winter hours begin in early January through mid-April – Friday 10-5 and Saturdays 9-3.
Our market is filled with our own fruits and vegetables, honey from our own bees and fresh brown eggs from our cage-free happy hens. We carry a large assortment of jellies, jams, fruit butters, salad dressings relish, salsa and more! A wide variety of flour, bulk foods and snacks are always available.

In addition to our brown eggs, in the summer and early fall we have available pastured broilers. These chickens are moved to fresh grass daily by using a bottomless pen. They are also fed a natural grain diet. We also raise our own beef, available for purchase in the fall by the whole, 1/2, or 1/4. Fresh pork is available in late summer and late fall also by the whole or 1/2. For those of you who love the flavor of lamb, we have our own small flock of sheep. Lamb is available by the whole or 1/2 in late summer and dairy fall. This meat is custom processed to your request and is raised on pasture and fed our own farm raised grain. No growth hormones are added to their feed.

Harvest View Farm’s C.S.A. (community supported agriculture) program is a unique way of marketing seasonal, fresh, safe fruits & vegetables to local community members. There are many reasons why one should join our CSA, instead of just purchasing our produce at the farm. Besides receiving the most produce per dollar spent, it also gets more fresh fruits and vegetables into your home. Some other benefits are the farmer/consumer relationship, quality, and variety. Our summer farm tour & weekly E-newsletter will help to educate members about local diversified farming.
